How to get villagers to offer discounts?
Source: https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-java-edition/discussion/2979943-how-to-get-villagers-to-offer-discounts

In my main village my main source of gems are farmers. (All my villagers are free-roaming.) I employ the gems mainly to trade with librarians for enchantments.
The farmers really like me and offer me discounts on a regular basis. The librarians never offer me discounts. I think I pay 38 gems for a volume of mending.
In the village I am currently inhabiting, only one farmer has ever offered me a discount on 1 item. Librarians are charging me much too much. One charges 45 gems for Unbreaking III, some other 31 gems for Luck of the Sea 2.
The villagers are well-fed and protected, so what can I practise to make them give me a suspension when trading?

You could attempt defeating a multi-moving ridge Pillager Raid and getting the "Hero of the Village" condition effect, which reduces many prices to minimum and causes villagers to toss yous free gift items from their roster of stuff for auction. But I too have never seen a librarian reduce price of a book. I think prices for things like enchanted diamond tools and armor reduce, but not enchanted books.

Thank you. Unfortunately, my heroism is a trouble here. I protect my villages from raids with milk rather than with a sword. I suppose I could give it a try with much preparation and then that I could defend the town from a prophylactic vantage point. I haven't seen a unmarried illager patrol about this hamlet yet though and judging from my warcraft both the villagers and I would probably exist slaughtered. Information technology might serve them right
But the other day I watched a YouTube video in which a newly created librarian in a newly discovered and unsecured hamlet offered a book of mending for xix gems correct from the commencement. I've never ever been charged then little.

I've got a guy who sells mending books for viii emeralds, only he's a leftover 1.13 villager from the trading mall I built on our Realms server earlier the one.14 update inverse villager mechanics. I oasis't yet been able to really explore the new village mechanics, been also busy trying to get started on a new Spawn Circuitous industrial zone to replace the autofarm system to provide a source of tradeable goods to get emeralds, but starting to go shut to being able to do something about them. I doubt I'll go another 8 emerald Mending seller whatever time soon, but hopefully I tin can get better than 19.

There'south another method that works wonderously. If done enough times it can lower the price of even the most expensive item down to 1 emerald.
...Information technology's somewhat cruel though...
Y'all have to let your villagers be turned into zombies then cure them to go discounts.
Here's my survival globe's trading hall.
This is Bub
He lives in a corridor behind my villager stands.
Every now and then I lower a villager for him to munch on.
I am always prepared to cure them however, and In render they requite me crawly discounts!
All you really need is a way to reliably plough your villagers into zombies (Just do this in HARD difficulty!) but I'd advise using LogicalGeekBoy's trading hall design Hither's his video-guide in case you're interested:
